No Foolish Matter

Some of the hamlets outlying Hillsfar have been struck by an odd malady. Rumor has it a traveling carnival visited those hamlets before the disease struck. Does coincidence not equal causation or is something sinister afoot?

A two-hour adventure for 1st-4th level characters.

This really does have enough material to be a 4 hour mod, and it seems like the adventure expects you to just check out two carnival rides and go straight to the boss to get under that time frame. I also wished the mirror maze part lasted just a little longer before going right into the boss fight, on account of it being a cool and creative idea.

Outside of that, this was a fantastic and well written mod. The pacing is great, the atmosphere is creepy, the encounters are tough but well balanced and fair, and the carnival itself allows for excellent role play. It is clear the author knows how to build tension in a story, and goes a fantastic job giving DM's all the tools he need's to have the players psyche them self out. This is an excellent mod to run players through, new and experienced, just make sure to let them know about the madness mechanic so they are away of the higher stakes!

4.5/5 for me!

Score 5/5 Must buy

I have run this adventure for many different groups many times as an AL DM. This has to be my favorite. In this adventure there are a group of evil mimes and every time the players encounter these mimes they can't help but hate and roleplay with them. The key here is to make sure that you act out how the Mimes make fun of the characters, and pick attributes about the characters. If there are dwarves have them make fun of them for being fat, half-orcs being dumb, gnomes and halflings being small. Then they mimic the characters. When they threaten the mimes have the mimes mock laughing and waving their fists. I cannot say enough good things about this.

There are also other roleplay opportunities with the fair, attractions, and people in attendance.

7/5 if you play creepy carnival music while running this adventure.

A weird semi creepy adventure as if they were prepping for season 4...?

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
