Eye of the Tempest

A storm of unparalleled fury has been ravaging the peaks of the Earthspur Mountains for a tenday, and the Monastery of the Yellow Rose sits in its eye for now. Some monks have fled the monastery to the safety of Mulmaster and beseech you to convince their more obstinate brothers to retreat to the city before the eye of the storm shifts, and the monestary is in terrible danger. Can you brave the elements and convince the monks to escape?

An eight-hour adventure for 5th-10th level characters.

This adventure has a great deal of exploration, role play, and combat, neatly compartmentalized into different sections. If you can get past the typos, make sure that the players don't get stuck during exploration or investigation, and deal with similar sounding names for villainous and helpful NPCs, you can have a great time.

A friend provided the adventure, so I am unable to provide an actual star rating. 3/5, 4/5 if they fix the typos.

As other posts have mentioned, this adventure says it is an eight hour adventure, but time will be variable. My group ended up spending almost ten hours on this, but that includes various role play and table discussions over what to do next.

The first section of the adventure path is exploration, with the characters given a choice of how to get to the adventure location. Each path is well developed, with flavorful encounters along the way. By the time the PCs arrive at the Monastery, they should have gained some insights into what to expect....See more

This is not an eight hour adventure. It's a twelve or sixteen hour adventure.

My store provided this adventure to me, so I'm unable to rate it. What I can tell you, however, is that my group has spent three sessions on this adventure so far (three weeks), and we're still not done with it. A couple of the players in my group like to take their time, but that doesn't account for how long this adventure is taking.

If this adventure were to be taken out of the context of Adventurer's League, it would be fine as a standalone module. Within Adventurer's League, it's way too long.

As others have pointed out, there are an embarrassing number of typos and incomplete sentences in this thing. And the information in Part 2 is very dense and horribly organized.

It's hard to get past the *numerous* typos, mis-spellings, poorly constructed sentences, and generally poor layout of the information. Some things just make no sense as well. This adventure is in dire need of a good editor. It's not just a typo or other issue here or there...it's practically every paragraph.

I have run this module only once, and will never run it again.

The Good:
It is 90% a resource to the Yellow Rose Monastery

The Neutral:
Multiple Paths can be chosen in the Middle Section

The Bad: This is not a 'pick up and run' module. This is a study and develop a Monastery and spend hours figuring out the crap ton of stuff happening in the Monastery in the 2nt half of the adventure type of Adventure.

The ending leaves a lot to be desired, it does not even have a fun 'And things end this way' text box... things just end.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
