This PDF contains traits and lore for a new player race for Dungeons & Dragons 5e; the sharkfolk.

Calling themselves the Carchari, sharkfolk spend much of their lives as lonars.  They rarely come together in groups, usually only to tackle obstacles too large for a single individual to overcome.  The other races of the world consider them to be pirates and raiders, violent beasts who kill on sight and come onto land only to plunder.  While many Carchari do find themselves venturing down this path, the race as a whole simply yearns for adventure and excitement, and pirating often provides those in spades.

Sharkfolk make great barbarians; their increased strength and constitution lend to the class well, and their blood frenzy ability is not only flavorful (BLOOD RAGE), but mechanically useful for any kind of striker class such as fighter or monk.  Assassin rogue sharkfolk are also a bit of a mechanical niche, owing again to their blood frenzy which can give them much-needed advantage for a single attack.

Overall

  • Document has been updated with the new formatting that all of my works will follow from now on, meaning a majority of art assets have been removed.
  • A new racial feat has been added; Sharkskin armor.  It's always bugged me that I couldn't properly fit the "chainmail-like armor" sharks are pretty famous for into the race without unbalancing it.  But, a feat option helps fill in that gap really nicely.  Now you can choose to make your skin more like the rough, sandpaper-like tough leather that real sharks have.  This feat is also particularly useful for anyone who wants to play their Sharkfolk as a grappling fighter, such as through Sterling Vermin's Pugilist class (which I highly recommend, btw).

Overall

  • With the release of Xanathar's, the PDF has been updated with a sharkfolk racial feat.  The aim is to make the sharkfolk even more of a watery predator, adding an increased swimming speed, blindsight while underwater, and an increased use of Blood Frenzy (which is something you may want even while landlocked).  These new traits are based on earlier designs for the race that were cut or removed, but felt appropriately sharky.

Much like the Treant PR, quite enjoying this one too. Been wanting to talk someone in my group into playing an amphibious character, but the "need water" drawback on the Locathah & Grung makes people shy away from it. Love that there's a semi-aquatic option here that doesn't have the "must dunk yourself for 20 minutes a day" kind of function here. Well done.

Yeah, I had some art which the artist gave me permission to use, but since I decided to try and utilize my own assets and such and changed to an optional pay method I had to remove it. I'm hoping if I can see some more success I'll have the spare coin to hire an artist for this and the rest of my works.

That's very odd; I see a download in my creator page and also when I attempt to "purchase" it as a customer. Can you attempt to "purchase" again and see if a download becomes available? You have to go through a few pages before it'll show up.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
