Ardeep Forest Maps & Guide

Suggested Price $2.00

This product is a compilation of a map of the Ardeep Forest, hexed and non-hexed, at a 1 mile scale, as well as a short guide to the region. Ardeep Forest is located near Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms, and is near Nightstone, a small village featured in Storm King's Thunder!

I hand-drew the map. It's suitable for anyone campaigning in the Waterdeep region, and may be especially helpful to anyone running the Tyranny of Dragons, Elemental Evil, or Storm King's Thunder adventure paths. The map is designed to be the sort of map characters might actually see in the world.

The guide to Ardeep Forest is brief at 8 pages long, and draws very heavily from other published products, and is intended to inspire the reader to go and seek out those products to learn more.

The map is based on Mike Schley's excellent map in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (available for purchase on his website), as well as various other maps of the Forgotten Realms. I'm not a professional artist, and I used techniques from Jared Blando's "How to Draw Fantasy Art and RPG Maps" to create the map, which I highly recommend. I also received some advise on locations from Markustay of the Candlekeep forum site.

There are 3 pdfs included: one includes 6 versions of the same map, the second pdf includes the same maps with 1 mile-hexes, and the other pdf is the guide to Ardeep Forest.

The maps in the map pdf area as follows:

  • a colour map of the region, with all locations
  • a colour map of the region, with a few locations a mapmaker might know
  • a colour map of the region, with no locations shown
  • black and white versions of all the above.
All maps are of exactly the same region. Close attention has been paid to remaining true to the source material, and distances are as accurate as I could make them taking into account inconsistencies between different canon maps.

For those interested, I also have Triboar, Waterdeep, and Cormyr region maps also available on DM's Guild, available as "Pay What You Want".
Waterdeep Region Maps
Triboar Region Maps
Cormyr West-Central Region Maps

Hope people find this helpful to their campaigns!

These are fantastic. Anyone adventuring in the Ardeep Forest needs these maps. These will be suggested in the Eastwall Adventuring Company's appendix.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
