The Full Toolkit Collection

Why Not Have It All?

If you are interested in this product, you might also be interested in Nerzugal's Dungeon Master Toolkit Compendium. It contains this product along with all of the other Toolkits I have published on the DM's Guild.

And the best part - it is Pay What you Want as well. You can get over 1000 pages of content with one checkout. If you are interested, just click the image below!

After launching my first Toolkit about two years ago I have been blown away by the feedback I have received from the community. My first Toolkit has now reached 40,000 downloads and is still consistently a best-seller. I was completely blown away by its success and had no choice but to make a second, but I wanted this one to be incredible. This Toolkit is a much larger undertaking than the first, but still contains a massive amount of content for DM's of any experience level.

I like to make my products available to any and all so I list them as Pay What You Want, but any and all support is appreciated and helps me pay for the art and the immense amount of time I spend with these products! I know there are a lot of poor DMs out there and you should not be denied quality products!

Contents

5 Dungeons

The Dungeons section contains 5 dungeons, including all combat and non-combat encounters for a range of groups. Creatures, puzzles, traps, skill checks, atmosphere, and rewards are all contained within the Toolkit. Each dungeon contains a minimum of four combat encounters and numerous out of combat challenges to test the strengths and weakness of any party composition. While these do include suggested usages, these dungeons are intended to be free from any external requirements or story, they are merely a set piece you can drop into your own world with little effort. Delve the temples of pure elemental magics and creatures that are drawn to their power and destroy the ancient evil lying dormant within the Tomb of Tarraketh.

5 One-Shots

One-shots are adventures that contain an overarching story or quest and tie themselves up at the end of a session. These are typically expected to last 3-4 hours (though some may take longer as noted in the adventures below) and are a great tool for newer Dungeon Masters who may be hesitant to jump into the deep end without assistance. They are also a valuable aid for an experienced DM that might be running low on prep time! Reading through the pages within this book should provide you with everything you need to run an exciting story for your players.

Experience the Metallic Dwarven Kingdoms and either aid or betray a set of star-crossed lovers in The Copperbolt Conundrum, invade the mind of a local lord and thwart the dream manipulator that has taken hold of his mind in Descent into Dreams, enter a haunted house with nothing but a magical candle to keep your players safe in The Nerastrim Manor, help a town prepare for a wild west style outlaw siege in Showdown in Skalintown, and finally help the poor pixie Quill of Pleppil restore his broken wings in The Well of Wishes.

10 Puzzles

Ten unique puzzles to drop into your world and challenge your players in a way that they often can't simply solve a dice to conquer. Present them with a locked safe that requires an assortment of specifically placed colored marbles to open, see if they are willing to coat themselves in blood to traverse a deadly trapped passageway, and see if they can endure the brutal challenges of the Submerged Temple puzzle.

11 d20 Random Encounter Tables

Sometimes as a DM you just need a bit of inspiration to give some excitement to your party’s travel (or simply to buy yourself some extra time to figure out what is going to happen when they arrive since you certainly didn't expect them to go to that town all the way across the map!). Within are tables for all of the common types of terrain your party may travel over for an extended period of time - arctic, coast, desert, forest, jungle, plains, mountains, swamp, and finally the high seas! There is also a table for encounters that might occur while they are visiting a city. Each of these environments come with a d20 table of encounters your players might come across on a given day. These can be used to give you a burst of inspiration for a larger hook in your world, or just as a way to spice up travel in an exciting manner.

Over 100 Magic Items

I think interesting magic items are one of the greatest gifts you can give to your players as a Dungeon Master. I find few things more satisfying than seeing the creative ways my players can utilize zany magic items, turning a difficult encounter into a trivial one and creating lasting memories of how their crazy plan actually worked. Many of the items in this book designed with the intent to allow for such creative scenarios, while others are alternatives to the official list of magic items available. Either way, hopefully you can make use of the items within or gain inspiration for custom magic items of your own!

Over 100 Monsters

Finally, page after page of new monsters for your players to fight, many with art to depict their ferocity (or cuteness). Challenge your players with over 100 new creatures they have never before faced in their adventures! Each of these creatures has a lore block to provide you with an idea of these creature's motivations and to better understand where you will be able to utilize them in your world! Monsters span the full range of difficulty from the seemingly harmless Sundrop Squirrel all the way up to the devastatingly powerful Elder Conflux Elemental!

Yep! I know that is a lot of stuff! This is a solo project (except for the artists I hire), so I expect there are still some formatting errors or typos that slipped through the cracks. If you stumble across any of these, please let me know and I will work on getting them fixed in future versions of the Toolkit. I am also not a perfect individual when it comes to balancing so if you see anything that seems absurd, be sure to reach out to me with suggestions and feedback and I will try to get it incorporated!

Along with this release of the new Toolkit, I also made a number of revisions to my first Toolkit! I added roughly 12 pages of content, some of it providing clarity where people had shown confusion, but a lot of it was making the adventures and dungeons work for a wider range of groups! Be sure to download the latest version if you were a fan!

With the arrival of Fantasy Grounds Unity, I have been transferring over my modules from the DMs guild. This module and the extended bestiary 2 are the only modules that are not operational.

Will you be able to fix this? Will it be a free update?

Hi Chris,

Hope to get a few more details real quick. You have purchased the Fantasy Grounds version of the module and it is not transferring over to their new platform? https://www.dmsguild.com/product/249189/Nerzugals-Dungeon-Master-Toolkit-2-Fantasy-Grounds?term=Nerzugal%27s+dungeon+master I work with individuals from Fantasy Grounds to get the conversions done, but do not do them myself. If it is actually their official conversion that are failing to work correctly, I will reach out to my contact from FG and let them know of the issue and I recommend posting this same feedback on those product pages as well. I can't make guarantees on fixes or updates as that is out of my hands, but I will do everything I can to get it done.

Sadly, the only Nerzugal book is the Game Master one on their site. Im talking specifically about the mod from the DMs Guild. The first toolkit works, the second toolkit does not.

I really love these books, and hope they can transfer over.

Hey again, Chris, if you want to use these in Fantasy Grounds for certain you will have to purchase the product at the link in my first comment. I partner with Fantasy Grounds to get those conversions made so I can focus on producing new content rather than doing those conversions myself. They are responsible for making sure that their converted version works on their platform and get to share in the profits as a result. So if you are trying to convert this raw PDF into their platform then I am afraid there is nothing I can do. Sorry!

Are they responsible for the modules on the DMs Guild website? I will have to contact them about fixing it if that is the case. They work fine for Fantasy Grounds, but the Unity Beta was just released, and it doesn't work with that version. Most of the other modules I've bought from the DMs Guild work on Unity.

I believe they are only responsible for items that have official Fantasy Grounds conversions. Some products might work on their platform just out of luck or coincidence, but if it isn't want of their official conversions then I dont think they will do anything. There is a Fantasy Grounds conversion of this product out there that should still work if you wish to purchase it, but this regular pdf version may not.

My first time DMing was the Nerastrim Manor from this collection. I had so much fun and it was so well put together that I drew out the battle map, used miniatures, had different voices and personalities for the different characters and it just came to life. Steven Williams did an amazing job! I even bought the hard copies of the Tool Kits 1 & 2 as a way of saying thank you for doing such a good job.

I'm excited to start using this with my group. I'm sending them to the Temple of Pure Ice.

How long do the temples usually take? It's a party of four 5th-level characters. Thanks.

I expect them to take 3-5 hours depending on your party's pace. If combats go fast, you can expect the lower end but for slower combats you can expect the higher end. So depending on how long you play and the typical pace it will take 1-2 sessions.

Wow... the ppuzzles opened my eyes to totally new ways to complicate my wifes one player game. And items like "Bouqet of Woe" are genius for her character, who is a potionsmith assassin of house cannith in an alternate eberron where dragon shards no longer exist and have been replaced with alchemical copies of khyber shards, which also makes the item "elemental shard" AWESOME and opens so many options for her cannith stronghold forge.
VERY WELL WRITTEN AND PRESENTED.
100% recommend.

This is probably really silly, but I just wanted to leave a comment for the creator, as he really left an impact on our group and inspired me. <3

My roommate DMs for multiple groups and eagerly purchased this, using my group as her test subjects! It was wonderful and nerve wracking, and a great way to give our characters something to bond over. The next time she ran it, I happened to stumble through the room with the intent of making tea --

When suddenly an idea struck me.

Through a few quick texts, we agreed that I would jump in and NPC Joshua when the time came, if only to throw the group off a bit! Unexpectedly, the group became attached to him, and so did I.

Well, my group just finished our first campaign together, and while mulling over characters for the next, my DM and I had the best idea: I could play Joshua as a warlock. Too young to realize the consequences of the deal he made not to die, he has been in "demon/devil foster care" until...See more

This is really awesome. I used "The Nerastrim Manor" for my first adventure with brand new players, and as a brand new DM, it went really smoothly. There is a mistake with the son's name. His name is Joshua, and is referred to as such, but in the basement when you see his body, his name changes to Jacob. Just figured I'd let you know. Thanks so much for making this Pay What you Want, it really is an incredibly useful tool.

Excellent material! I love what you've made so far and I appreciate that it's pay what you want.

Are you planning on making a printer friendly version like you did with v1? The yellowed pages are gonna suck so much ink and I would much prefer a printed copy.

Well, there are print copies available in hardback and softback if you want to purchase them =)

Alternatively, I am not seeing the yellow pages you are speaking of. Do you have the latest version of the Toolkit? It should have white backgrounds so it is more printer friendly.

Only the cover is in color. The rest of the images within are in the style of sketches and are in black and white. I had over 50 illustrations done and my art budget wasn't high enough to afford full-color illustrations throughout. For later projects, I may consider doing a Kickstarter to get some upfront funding to pay for such artwork.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! My main reason for asking was because I was afraid of breaking my budget on ink when the time comes to print it out (I assume I can print it from the PDF?). Looking forward to digging in:)

First of all, really think you are awesome for offering all that as pay what you want. I have a question though if you don't mind. I'm looking at running a one shot soon(2-3 hours), and I would like to know what levels and party size the one-shots are optimized for. My party will be around 3rd level and 6-7 players(big, I know). They find interesting NPCs the most fun. Are your one shots doable with this configuration and if so, which has your favourite NPC? Thanks for your time.

The Showdown in Skalintown I think would work for your party really well. They are third level so I would use the 5th or 6th level version of the one-shot (depending on how skilled they are in combat). It is a wild west showdown with plenty of room for everyone to shine and requires the entire table to come together to plan and coordinate. It also has a couple of NPCs I had a ton of fun with, but my favorite was Jefferey Black. He is a former member of the bandit group that is attacking the town so the party had some fun trying to decide whether or not they trusted him. Hopefully I got back to you in time! Good luck!

Can you send a copy of the PDF you have to Nerzugal@gmail.com. I have been trying to find the root cause of the issue but I cannot recreate it on any of my devices with the current PDF that is downloaded for the product. I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but most of the text appears to be blending into the white background or not loading for some reason. The text that is appearing is also upside down, which is new. Maybe I need to re-download the PDF?

You can try redownloading and see if that helps, but this is the first I have heard of this error and I cannot seem to produce it myself. I suppose it may also be a result of the PDF viewer. If you don't mind, you can send me an e-mail at Nerzugal@gmail.com with more details and perhaps a screenshot and we can try to figure it out.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
